Foot and ankle surgery

National Quality register for foot and ankle surgery
(Swefoot)

Registry category: Diseases of the movement organs

Certification level: 3

Central personal data controller (CPUA): Västra Götalandsregionen

The objective of this registry is to improve the quality of foot and ankle surgery.

Nearly 20 000 elective foot and ankle surgeries are performed each year in Sweden. Scientific data in foot and ankle surgery methodology is rather limited. It is hoped that the large scale of the registry will provide increased evidence for selecting methods. Local improvement measures can help sort out ineffective surgical methods.

The registry contains information on surgery in forefoot, hindfoot and ankle including deformities, osteoarthrosis and soft tissue disorders.

Basic data, co-morbidity, diagnosis and intervention, as well as generic and region-specific PROMs are included. Registration is conducted online after the surgery. The patient registers PROM pre-op, 1- and 2-year post-op, online or using paper forms.
