National Quality Registry for Paediatric Orthopaedic Conditions (SPOQ)

The orthopaedic perspective for children differs greatly from that of adults, partly due to the fact that orthopaedic disorders in children are different than those in adults, and partly because continued growth affects the development of the bones and joints. Despite treatment, they might result in residual deformities, which might necessitate surgery later in life, such as hip prosthesis. The Swedish Paediatric Orthopaedic Quality Register (SPOQ) includes the five most common conditions in paediatric orthopaedics: hip disorders (developmental dysplasia of the hip, Perthes disease and slipped capital femoral epiphysis), congenital club foot and acute severe knee injuries. The patient is followed from diagnosis until adulthood at age 18 with registration of clinical findings, radiographic appearance and patient-reported outcomes measures at certain time points and at performed surgeries.
